“Did you see the news earlier today?” Ava asked with excitement.
“No, what was it?” I replied, faking ignorance.
“It seems that something has transpired in the press: the President was asked by reporters today about allegations that this Administration has prepared a plan to take over the Holy Land…”
“You are not being serious,” I reacted, pledging ignorance.
“Oh, boy! You should have seen him struggling under fire, while Mugabe was smiling angelically: it was a real treat.”
“Too bad I missed it.”
“I wonder who could have leaked it. From what I know, there are only two people who could have done it: Joachim Azuelos or Senator Gareth.”
“Ava, did I ever tell you that I knew the Secretary of State?” I said with a mysterious air.
“What does this have to do with the story?”
“Well, she is an old acquaintance of mine… and I thought it would be useful to use her as a fifth column and inflict as much damage as we could to stall the ‘1492’ conspirators’ evil plan.”
